Gazaly Bin Haron

About the exhibition:

Nothing seems to be positive these days, the mortgage crisis, economic down turn, reputable banks and companies become needy. Those who had money need more now to survive. Basic necessities feel like premium commodity. Iron rice bowls are now offered on a contract basis. Retrenchment came to a point equivalent to the cutting of limbs to stay alive. The avalanche of the blame game with truly no one to blame frustrates and resents.

In such times Questions arise in unified voices. The rant “Nothing seems to be permanent these days” But was it ever? Is existence the only permanence? Amidst such phenomena persists the existence of excesses. Soon magnifies the presence of segregation along the way, the recurrent surfacing of the age old quote, “rich getting richer, poor getting poorer”, gets louder.

The phenomena of being trapped in an era where turbulence, impermanence and uncertainty renders immaterial all forms of power and strength regardless of its magnitude, under such circumstances it is perhaps necessary to engage once again with fundamental elements. The phenomenon, like water, erosive even in stillness, in motion leaves a path of destruction. Though may sound bleak but after all, haven’t we been living by?

Social and political fluctuations took to a global scale bringing about much reaction varying in form and magnitude, the flux of the issues converged a group of artists fusing thought thoughts of expression divergent in attitude and language.

The artist explores the motion of uncertainty with their artworks.
